Chapter One of (title undecided)

I decided to make my own Hunger Games story, so here goes:

For a moment, I don't know where I am.  Then I remember.  I am on the tribute train to the Capitol.  Yesterday was the reaping.  I lay in bed awhile, recounting the previous day's events.
Being the mayor's daughter, the odds of me being chosen were slim.  But somehow it happened.  I am fourteen.  Since I have no need for tesserae, my name was in three times.  I hadn't thought twice about myself, but was extremely worried for my friend Selene, whose name was in twenty-four times.  She lives in the poorer part of District Three.
The ceremonies had just begun and Alpina Partron, the escort, was about to begin choosing tributes.  "Boys first," she said, mildly surprising everyone.  She walked over, her bright yellow braids bobbing every time she took a step.  "Rowan Bertram!"  I felt like someone had punched me in the stomach.  Rowan was Selene's only brother.  Before I could find Selene in the crowd, Alpina was reaching into the girls' bowl.
"Rhee Cardham!" Guess who that was. Yours truly.
No, I thought.  Please, no.  I walked stiffly to the stage, sure I was heading to my demise.
The rest of the day was a blur.  I slept as soon as I laid down. Now here I am, curled up on a train, numb with sorrow.  I can hear the shrill voice of my new mentor, Josie Overton.  I fall out of bed, slip on some black shoes, and drag my feet all the way to the dining room.  As soon as I walk in, Josie looks at me like roadkill.
"If it isn't little miss Rhee Cardham," she sneers.  The way she says my name sounds like 'ray-ee'.
"It's Rhee, like free.  Get it right," I snap and slide into the farthest chair from Josie.
Just then, a boy in a white tunic brings a platter of steaming delicacies to the table.  "Um, you know I'm on a no-carb breakfast diet!  Bring me something else," Josie snaps to the waiter.  He nods, somewhat guiltily, and shuffles off.
"So," Alpina begins.  "Today we arrive in the Capitol.  You will have the chariot parade tonight."  Oh, great, I think.  I had completely forgotten.  Now I'll be dressed like a lightbulb or some other stupid electronic.  I begin to acknowledge the food.  Eggs, ham, stew, batter cakes with jam, rolls, coffee, juices, hot chocolate and toast.  I stuff myself for good measure.  Then Rowan walks in, accompanied by a man who looks about twenty.
"Hi," he says. "I'm Clovis Neil, Rowan's mentor."
I am immediately jealous of Rowan.  He gets the normal one and I get princess of the snobs.  Clovis looks like Rowan and Selene, with caramel hair and brown eyes.
I scarf down the small remainder of my breakfast and hurry off to my room, where I find another servant.  "What are you doing here?" I ask.  She avoids my eyes and rushes off.  I lay down on my bed and doze off.
